There are so many additional elements you can add to your ceremony to make it rich, meaningful, and full of depth.

Personalising your ceremony is a beautiful way to share with those at your wedding who you both are as a couple and to have them emotionally connected to your ceremony. And as for you, the couple, hearing afresh your love story during the ceremony is something truly wonderful.

One of the many ways to personalise your ceremony is to include your love story! It doesn’t have to be a book but you can add moments from your years together which are meaningful to you both! Moments could include: how you met, your first date, the moment you knew you were in love, a hardship you walked through, overcame and how you both supported each other through it, a really random funny moment where you both laugh every time you bring it up to this day! You could also share the characteristics you love about the other person, how they have helped you, how they have been there for you. Another way would be to write your own vows - a truly wonderful way to make your ceremony personal. Expressing how you will be there for the other is something to behold!

Honouring loved ones in your ceremony allows your guests to know what someone has meant to you and how they have helped shape you. There’s also a space to honour loved ones who are no longer with you. It’s always a fragile space as for some it is still fresh for them, but to be able to make mention and include the person in your ceremony is something you won’t regret.

Adding scripture which has meant something to you, a poem, a quote from a book are all beautiful additions to your ceremony as well! You can also ask your Officiant to pray for you, or read a blessing over you both as you embark on the road ahead as a married couple.

There are so many ways to make your ceremony unique to who you both are as a couple! It doesn’t have to be a boring, non-emotional ceremony, it has all the potential to be full of vibrancy, joy, laughter, tears, love and meaning!
